The Weekly Ritual That Saved Our Marriage đź’—
Life is distracting. Kids. Work. Movies. Phones. It all crowds our time connecting. That’s why my wife and I started a weekly Couples Check-In.

When was the last time you and your spouse really checked in? Not about chores. Not about bills. Just heart-to-heart, eye-to-eye time?
Life is distracting. Kids. Work. Movies. Phones. It all crowds our time connecting as a couple.
That’s why my wife and I started a weekly Couples Check-In. Honestly? It changed the game completely for us.
Every Sunday after church, we block off just 1 hour: no distractions, no devices, just us. To simply talk. We created a structure that helps us open up, reconnect, and get back on the same page after a crazy week.
Here’s the format we use and love (and feel free to steal it):
- 🟡 Appreciations & Excitements: What did your partner do this week that made you feel loved? What are you looking forward to together?
- đźź Challenges & Support: What was hard this week? Where could you use a little extra help or grace?
- đź”´ Unfinished Business: Are there any lingering frustrations or unresolved topics that need to be aired out?
- 🟢 Our Direction & Vision: How are we doing on our long-term goals spiritually, relationship-wise, and financially?
- đź’— Connection & Intimacy: How do we feel about our closeness, touch, and emotional intimacy? Is there anything we can change or improve?
- 🙏 Pray Together: A short prayer to bring it all back to God, as one heart, equally yoked in his presence.
- đź“… Calendar Coordination: Look ahead together. Make space for date nights, family events, and rest (sabbath).
This can all be done at home, but sometimes we like to go out to a cute lunch spot or a coffee shop to change up the mood and keep things fun!
We hope this helps you all, it's seriously been such a blessing on our marriage! And if you already do something like this, I’d love to hear your format too and how it's helped your relationship or marriage!
